The Clocktower Black by Michael Thomas Knight {Goblin Press}
pgs 24
Awakening
A young man wakes from a night of drinking in a decrepit, abandoned
cemetery. He laughs at the prank his friends have put over on him but
not at the wild dogs that engage to pursue him. As they give chase he
runs to free himself of this situation and get safely beyond the open
gates. He realizes he may not make it to the gates in good time so he
turns to fight off the dogs. Oddly, the dogs cease their pursuit and
turn and run from him. He uses the precious seconds he’s been granted
to get out of the cemetery before anything else can go wrong. For some
strange reason, he finds he can’t leave the hallowed grounds.
Bon Fire
Every year on Halloween night a small group of friends get together
before the warm orange glow of Bon Fire. Seated around a blazing fire
pit, they take turns telling scary stories, catch up on each other’s
lives and share some good times. When the friends bring in new
boyfriends and girlfriends, the group makes them feel welcome and
comfortable. This is what they did this very year with Samantha. When
Samantha disappears into the woods they realize no one from the group
actually invited her to this intimate gathering. A search for her down a
hidden dirt path will reveal the creepy truth of her origin.
Ceremony
In a darkened basement a man in a hooded cloak stands before a makeshift
alter. Speaking ancient Latin words he begins a ceremony of the dark
arts. Before him lies a picture of his ex-love. In one upscale apartment
bedroom across town a woman’s husband stands with glazed eyes as if
being moved by some unseen force. He is a puppet of flesh and commanded
to carry out his violent mission. The man in the hooded cloak is quite
pleased with the results of his ritual. But is the ceremony over? Or has
it just begun?
